{"id":724,"date":"2020-01-13T16:25:26","date_gmt":"2020-01-13T15:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.u-bourgogne.fr\/limquet\/?page_id=724"},"modified":"2020-01-13T16:27:33","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T15:27:33","slug":"my-first-big-conference","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.ube.fr\/limquet\/my-first-big-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"My first big conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Mateja Pr\u0161lja<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">I got a great opportunity to be a participant at the MCQST-Technion Symposium on Quantum Science and Technology, which took place at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ) in Munich. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.ube.fr\/limquet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/113\/2020\/01\/mateja.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The symposium was three days long with a very rich program, that included scientific talks, lab tours, a poster session and a panel discussion on platforms for quantum computing. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">On the first day, we had a chance to visit a few different labs in three high-level institutes, namely Walther-<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Mei\u00dfner Institute, Walter Schottky Institute,<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> and MPQ. Then, followed the poster session with more than 50 scientists, which were able to share their latest work with all interested participants.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">A second day was filled with lectures given by top international researchers working in various areas of quantum science and technology. A starting first two talks were on the topic of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Quantum Metrology<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> and the second two on <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Quantum Information Theory<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/span><b> <\/b><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">After a<\/span><\/span><b> <\/b><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">very<\/span><\/span><b> <\/b><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">delicious German lunch, we continued with lectures about <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Quantum Computing <\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">and<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b> Quantum Communication<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The last day of a symposium was only half-day long but still filled with very interesting and different topics regarding <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Quantum Simulations<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Quantum Matter<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> and <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Semiconductor Quantum Optics<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">I can say, that my impressions of this conference are very positive and I&#8217;m looking forward to new events like that.
